About Jingle Jenny

A man holding a baby close with a setting sun in the background

Location & Background

Jingle Jenny is the first book in a series that takes place in the rural outskirts of Cambridge Massachusetts.  Al works on his neighbors farm and Jenny for a flower nursery.

Jenny Bell is a new resident of Cambridge, having recently completing her horticultural studies.

Al and Jenny are neighbors. Jenny rooms with an elderly couple and lives with his maternal grandparents.

They are opposites concerning personality traits. Jenny is outgoing and bubbly while Al is serious and an introvert.

Meet the cast

Bubbly blond in her late twenties

The Heroine

Jenny Bell is the sparkly heroine. Her laugh and smile are infectious. Some might think her flighty when in reality she has focus and determination.

I based her looks and personality on Jessie Diggins, the American cross country ski pro.

A man in his early thirties with longish dark hair and eyes. Slight beard and mustache.

The Hero

Al Shepherd is the strong silent type. Mandy Patinkin as he looked in Yentel was my choice for his attributes. Okay, with more of a trim.

This picture was the closest I came to what was in my minds eye. Even this guy needs a little trim, however.

Story Line

Al is struggling with fear and guilt over his mother's death.

Jenny wants to find her home and purpose after years of loneliness.

Finding Their Path

Can Al learn to trust God and Jenny with his heart and fears?

Can Jenny find joy again and find the home she desires?

"I’d once heard that a man knew when he met the woman meant to be his wife. I had this disturbing feeling I had just done that.” Al Shepherd - when he first saw Jenny

Book description

Jenny Bell

Having completed her horticultural studies at North Shore Community College in Danvers Massachusetts, Jenny Bell was on her way to work at a commercial nursery outside Cambridge. Late for her first day of work, she gets in a car accident and loses not only her car but her job.

Normally a positive person, keeping her faith was becoming difficult. She was in danger of becoming bitter. Holding fast to her motto, if you can’t change a situation for the better, just make the best of it. Not wanting to grow bitter, she makes a valiant effort to move forward with her life.

The elderly couple whom she boards with step up and together with friends from her new church they find a way for Jenny to get back on her feet. In the process, she falls for the neighbor’s grandson Al Shepherd.

Her dreams of a future with Al are hindered by his fears. Maybe he wasn’t Mr. Right. She was realizing that she was at risk of stepping into the same kind of relationship she had with her parents. A relationship where work always took first priority over love and family.

Al Shepherd

Al Shepherd was supposed to become an Equine Veterinarian. Jinxed from the age of five when a horse caused his mother’s death, he was afraid of the powerful beasts. His fear made his father’s choice of profession for him a bad fit. He defied his father and studied agriculture with the dream of farming on his own land.

He was taking his first step on the road to his dreams when his path crossed with Jenny Bell’s. After years of living in fear that he was jinxed when it came to women, he rashly took a chance on Jenny, only to watch her wind up in an accident. His fears returned full force.

Discovering his faith might not be as strong as he believed, he needed to make some changes. Will his fears keep him from exploring the possibility of love? By helping Jenny will he find the help he needs as well?

What makes my book different from books in a similar genre?

My desire is to give an opportunity for relaxation as well as inspiration.  I find that in using the creativity God has given to each of us we can mirror the Creator. Therefore my books often show different ways of being creative.
